Annual Report

Welcome

As we mark the EBU’s 75th anniversary, this year’s Annual Report offers a moment not just for celebration, but for reflection and reinvention.

In an era defined by geopolitical instability, financial strain, and rapid technological disruption, the role of public service media (PSM) has rarely been more important — or more challenged.

Throughout the last year, we have worked to help communicate the real value PSM brings to society at a time when press freedom is under sustained attack. From the launch of the PSM Compass advocacy toolkit to high-level engagement in Brussels and support for Members facing political or economic pressure, we are actively defending PSM’s relevance and purpose across the continent.

At the same time, we are helping to shape the future. Our work in AI – offering concrete skills, knowledge and tools — is assisting our Members in exploring new frontiers responsibly. We are investing in cyber-security, working to secure prominence for PSM in connected cars and smart TVs, and reimagining how news, music, and sport can thrive in the digital era.

This report also highlights how we are working smarter: focusing on impact, building stronger partnerships, and ensuring that our Members have access to the data, training, and networks they need. As the pace of change accelerates, so too must our ambition.

Together, we are not only adapting to the times — we are helping to lead them.

We also work to grow our communities online and provide access to a bunch of resources on our website and social media channels.

In our continuing pursuit of providing Members with a personalized experience online, we have used our own translation product EuroVox to offer translation in over 20 languages on our website. This includes our highly sought after Media Intelligence Service research slide decks. Over the past 12 months, almost 2,000 people have used this feature with our most popular languages (apart from English and French) being Spanish, German and Italian.

We have also launched a new user preferences portal. Users can create a free account, sign in and keep track of all their event registrations, newsletter subscriptions, topic preferences and, coming soon, EBU group and community sign ups. Since its launch at the beginning of the year, over 1,600 people have used my.ebu.ch.
